Train Like a Princess- Does the Shoe Fit?

January 22, 2013 By D Marie 2 Comments

Have the tweets, e-mail updates, and Facebook runner tracking images from the past two runDisney weekends made you wriggle in your comfy chair?  Well, they're meant to!  Typically, 40% of runners at events such as the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend are new to that distance.  In short, runDisney spectaculars are magnets to newbies.  And I should know. If you have been so enticed over the past 2 weeks that you simply can't sit still any longer, then this series is … [Read more...]

Touring Disneyland’s Dream Suite | An Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon Meet Up Dream

January 7, 2013 By D Marie 5 Comments

Ahhh, the sweet goodnight kiss.  It fills you with an inner glow and presses a memory into your heart.  It is sometimes expected and anticipated (as the Disneyland Hotel's Kiss Goodnight). As was touring Disneyland Dream Suite. But oft times catches you by complete surprise.  And so it was at the Meet-Up and Fly Away in Disneyland Resort during the Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend.  Having participated in runDisney's Wine & Dine Meet Up and Eat Up, I was flying high at the chance to once again run with and learn from guru … [Read more...]

Well, I don't believe Disney has any, er, … [Read more...]

January 2, 2013 By D Marie 20 Comments

The month of January brings the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend  to Orlando, and this year it comes with an extra dose of fanfare.  Twenty years have passed since the first "Mickey Marathon", and it's time to celebrate!  This year, runDisney expects its largest overall field to date; over 26,000 runners will traverse the 26.2 miles through all four parks, and for the first time includes Walt Disney World Speedway and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (with a promised "20 Mile Spectacular" in Champion Stadium). … [Read more...]

My Favorite Holiday “Plus” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

December 6, 2012 By D Marie 11 Comments

Walt Disney was famous for taking a good thing and "plussing" it; or kicking it up a notch, so to speak.  When I first started visiting  Walt Disney World in the early 1970's, most people chose to vacation in Orlando during the pleasantly warm winter months or during their own summer vacation.  Spending Christmas at Walt Disney World was virtually unheard of; until, that is, the "plussers" consciously made Disney Parks a holiday destination.  From classic Disney Resort decorations, to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas … [Read more...]
