Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share with you what we would be if we could be a Disney cast member for a day.
Oh, the possibilities! The “what ifs” are endless. If I had any artistic sensibility, I would love to work for Disney Floral & Gifts– talk about spreading some serious pixie dust! But since I have no such talents, I must go back to the “drawing board”. How about playing a princess for a day? Well, I don’t believe Disney has any, er, “mature” royalty on property, so I must keep my glass slipper in storage. BUT, since my family is in the restaurant business, I may just have come across something I CAN do.
During Disney Wine & Dine Half Weekend, my husband and I were also celebrating our anniversary. We had fantasized about toasting our number 23 (along with my runDisney Coast to Coast Challenge medal!) at Be Our Guest Restaurant. Though only in soft opening, we had the amazing fortune of eating there twice during our November stay. We both remarked how happy each and every cast member working in Beast’s Castle looked; and why not? Anticipation for this eatery has been building to a crescendo since the New Fantasyland expansion was announced three years ago. After conversing with a server there (a cast member we had befriended at The Flying Fish eight years ago), he informed us that Disney selected the best of their best when staffing this establishment. (The same strategy was used when choosing the waitstaff at Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disneyland.) So, the cast members at Be Our Guest Restaurant are the creme of the Disney crop. Could I make the Disney cut? And which position would I like??

Luncheon delivery? (NO way could I steer this huge cart through the crowds and closely placed tables. Nope.)

Dinnertime server
Just look at that smile! And why not? He has captivatingly beautiful surroundings in which to work:
He strongly suggested we try his favorite, Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops with Seasonal Vegetables served with Puff Pastry with a Creamy Lobster Sauce:

He sure picked a winner!
And how did he know to suggest this delectable dish? Because he had tried each and every item on the Dinner Menu several times as part of his grueling training. Perhaps the trickiest part of his job was learning to perfect the napkin rose which sits at every place setting:

He even showed us how! (Not that I remember…)
Clearly, dinner server would be my top pick for a cast member position. Would I survive the audition? Nope, not yet. But maybe I can start intensive training at my hubby’s restaurant. If I survived that, I could take on the “World”!!
Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail is Delightfully Disney.

We'll just have to return again and again until we get it right!! 😉
Oh my goodness. Is the dining room Beast's ballroom? That would be amazing.
Yes Brooke- isn't it incredible?!!
I have an ADR for February!! Wahoo!! BTW – the Fairy Godmother is mature and though not necessarily royalty, pretty fabulous! 😉
Oh Jennifer, you will fall in love! And yes, I must start thinking about trading in my Cinderella for the Fairy Godmother!! (But only after I run the Princess Half in my Cindy costume :D) Can't wait to see you then!
