Disneyland’s Mad T Party

July 30, 2013 By D Marie 40 Comments

We're headed back to Disneyland!  And I will admit, with all the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend will have to offer, this is high on our list of "must get back to...". Loud music, funky outfits, colorful refreshments, arcade games; a typical teen paradise, yes? But embed this utopia in a Disney theme park, and you have created a literal wonderland for guests of any age.  (In fact, it sure did resemble the '70's to me!)  The Mad T Party, playing nightly in Disney California Adventure's Hollywood Land., is … [Read more...]

“it’s a small social media world”

July 17, 2013 By D Marie 32 Comments

It seems to make the world go 'round.  Social media, in all its various forms, bridges time zones, nationalities and lifestyles.  It sometimes creates unlikely bedfellows, but emphasizes our commonality.  In lieu of developing relationships based on age, outward appearances or other superficial metrics, we IM, chat on Facebook, Skype, "hangout" on Google+ and well, the platforms multiply by the day.  It's all good until you actually meet in the flesh; and then it's GREAT. Pinterest   My slice of social … [Read more...]

Monorail Resort Hopping in the Rain

July 9, 2013 By D Marie 7 Comments

Welcome to those of you joining me from The Disney Kids and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the second stop on our Magical Blogorail. Do you (as I) travel with someone who WILL NOT tour the Disney Parks in the rain?  Quite the dilemma given the frequent tropical weather patterns in Central Florida!  Since vacations are a family affair, we keep the peace on those monsoon-like Orlando days by staying close to "home".  Ever the restaurant family, we stay dry and eat our way around the Seven Seas … [Read more...]

Our 10K~runDisney Love Affair

July 9, 2013 By D Marie 6 Comments

Not since the now-retired Race for the Taste 10K have runners been able to compete in the  6.2 mile distance for Disney bling.  The Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Relay offered the 4.8 mile/8.3 mile option for just two years (2010 & 2011), and since then, racers looking for a "gateway" into longer distance competitions have been waiting.  Somewhat patiently. Ever with their EARS to the ground, for 2013 runDisney has introduced the 10K into their growing line-up.  This most magical and popular … [Read more...]

Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Dining Must-Dos

July 3, 2013 By D Marie 14 Comments

July means - it's time!  Time to nail down our Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend chow choices and make that magical call to Disneyland Dining (714- 781-DINE).  Most Walt Disney World goers are aware that the Disneyland reservation system differs substantially from that of its cousin; "Priority Seatings" (not ADRs) can be made up to 60 days in advance, and even if you are staying on property, cannot be made for the entirety of your trip starting on Day 60.  (You must call back each day if you want the primo hard-to-get … [Read more...]
