The Walt Disney, runDisney, Special Olympics Connection

August 26, 2013 By D Marie 10 Comments

You know the quote: All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.  ~ Walt Disney As I sat watching the acts of courage playing out on the field in front of me, I couldn't help but think back to the first time I had volunteered at the Special Olympics World Games in 1984.  The determination, work ethic and grit that these athletes display literally fills your spirit; the words that founder Eunice Shriver pronounced 50 years ago are relevant still:  "Let me win; but if I cannot win, let me be brave in … [Read more...]

Red Car Trolley Tidbits

August 13, 2013 By D Marie 29 Comments

Gotta love vintage.  Just as turn-of-the-century jitneys, fire engines, omnibuses and horse-drawn streetcars set the scene on Main Street, U.S.A., the Red Car Trolley graces Buena Vista Street in Disney's California Adventure.  Reminiscent of the vehicles that criss-crossed Los Angeles when Walt and Roy Disney arrived in 1923, a ride on this "Hollywood Car" style trolley not only moves you around the park, it directly transports you back to that time and place nearly a century ago. Mr. Toad Time

August 6, 2013 By D Marie 22 Comments

J. Thaddeus Toad,  Esq. I hereby announce my departure from regions beyond to take a jaunty journey across the pond, merrily going to nowhere in particular. So as not to be forgotten, a tribute to myself for you, dear friend, for this is not the end. Exciting adventures await. Farewell, until we meet again, at a later date! Why does this Dark Ride pull on our heartstrings?  Perhaps because it was one of our firsts; my family's first in 1972 (it was one of the Magic Kingdoms opening day attractions on October 1, 1971. … [Read more...]

Disneyland Favorites~ Snacks, Attractions and Restaurants

July 31, 2013 By D Marie 10 Comments

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney on Wheels, and those of you just hopping aboard.  I am the Final stop on our Magical Blogorail. It's August!  And that means our return to Disneyland is right around the river bend.  I've been in heavy research mode, and in a California state of mind.  While we are planning for the new and different (more about that in weeks to come), I thought I'd review our tried-and-true favorites. Disneyland Park Snacks Candy Palace I tried the Fruit Skewers this … [Read more...]
