Seven Seas Lagoon~ Then & Now

June 26, 2013 By D Marie 21 Comments

Most likely my most beloved vista in a Disney Park; the Seven Seas Lagoon, and in particular, the view from Disney’s Polynesian Resort, is unmatched in the land of magical memories. Pardon me.  I’ve shared these slices of paradise before, but I just can’t get enough!

No, I never did get to see the wave machine in operation!  But I have seen the paddlewheel-powered steamships come and go, the introduction of the Resort Launches and the beachside luas moved to Luau Cove.  For 42 years, just as Walt foresaw, the Seven Seas Lagoon has provided the perfect mystical setting and buffer to the hustle and bustle of the outside world.  Aloha!

Thanks Diane! I'm thinking buying into the Polynesian DVC would bring us full circle- don't you agree?? (I can't even imagine how much that will cost. Gulp.)

That is so special Mary!! (MY mom only let us wade in below-the-knee, but I'm thankful for that memory.)

So interesting to see the retro pics of the lagoon. I found some old pics of characters on water skis in the lagoon and I was amazed. I was too young to remember and I really wish I had seen it with my own eyes! Thanks for sharing these! They're great!

I know the photos you mean James, but I never witnessed that either. Wouldn't it be fun to bring that back? Disney suggestion box, please! 😀
