Most Magical Mementos

September 3, 2013 By D Marie 10 Comments

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow.  Enjoy the ride as we share our most sentimental Disney souvenir.

I find myself looking at my treasures often lately.  Possibly because of the “empty nest” syndrome, but alternately because I love those tiny trinkets that are directly connected to the happiest times in life.  Surprise, surprise, most of these gems have Disney connections!  And one of my prizes stands above all others.  My portable “souvenir album” and memory maker stands for how I look at life; cherish the past, savor today, and move full speed ahead, RUN, into the future.

In 1994 I made what I thought would be an extravagant purchase.  Frustrated with the Disney park ticket, FASTPASS, cash, credit card juggle, while shopping on Main Street U.S.A. I spent $45 on a leather “wallet” of sorts. Complete with multiple pockets, zippered compartments, ID and pen holder, I thought it would become my perfect Disney Park command center.  And it is that, but so much more.

My “assistant” has traveled with me to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, the Disney Magic, Disneyland Paris and back.  It has been a holder for my boys’ must-haves: coloring pages, origami trials, girlfriend’s phone numbers and driver’s licenses.

It still contains the necessities of a magical trip:  my Tables in Wonderland card, our Annual Passes, Disney’s Photopass cards, and of course, the Disney Visa card.  It contains goodies that I will never remove:  a shopping receipt from Disneyland Paris, our Leave a Legacy location finder, the phone number of our favorite waiter at the California Grill, a pen from the Disneyland Hotel circa 2001, my first Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon wristband, and most recently, a mint wrapper from Club 33.

Worthless to anyone else, priceless to me, my wallet is a magical memento that I just won’t leave home without.  What a travel partner!

Thank you for joining me today.  Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Delightfully Disney.

That's fabulous! I wish I could find one of those nifty binders at WDW! I, too, carry many things with me in my wallet–usually my Key to the World card and expired Disney gift cards–that are worthless pieces of plastic to anyone else, but are priceless treasures to me!

Agreed! I don't care if Magic Bands take the place of all of my thingamabobs, I'll still carry this wherever I go Jodi!

I have a much smaller wallet that goes with me – but that one looks so much more organized!

That's probably more practical Jenn. Maybe I should have bought one that would have fit into those tiny Dooney & Bourke bags!!
