A Grand New Year’s Eve at Narcoossee’s

December 30, 2011 By D Marie 6 Comments

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa delivers a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration! Though that comes as no surprise to most, we were delighted with the many options the resort offered to welcome midnight.

From balloons and a live band in the lobby, to prix fixe dining at Citricos or Victoria & Albert’s, there are choices for all.  My clan opted for the late seating at Narcoossee’s for its smorgasbord of entertaining extras.  The four-course prix fixe menu was as delicious as you would expect (though we love their coastal menu, most of us thought the Grilled Filet Mignon with Butter-Poached Lobster Tail was appropriate for the occasion), it was the setting that made the evening so special.  Not only was it New Year’s Eve, but we were celebrating my husband’s 60th.  (December 31st babies always have the best birthday parties!)  Let’s take a look at those signature Disney pluses:

The Balloon Artist and his creations.
New Year’s finery.
Electric Water Pageant
Our private viewing spot on the Narcoossee’s porch.
A New Year’s Eve Fantasy in the Sky

What you don’t see is the DJ playing by the bar throughout the night, adding to the completely festive mood.  As if the dessert plate was not enough, we had arranged to have my husband’s birthday cake top the evening.

Who else?

Yes, you pay a premium price for the late seating (now $161 per adult).  For us it was another “once in a lifetime”, “worth every penny” expense.  Perhaps for our next December 31st trip, we might just try lounging in the Grand Floridian lobby- it’s free!!

How fun! I did not know they had festivities at the hotels. Would definitely do that instead of the parks.

It was! And that's the one tiny problem with a "once in a lifetime" event. Can you do it again?!
