The swag is here, and I am re-living my two-day romp with Blogger Bash 2017 (@BloggerBashNYC). As a first-timer and elder blogger, I will admit hesitancy attending a conference I feared might have few meaningful take-aways. With each item I unboxed from the Toy Insider, I was reminded of how wrong I was; special needs-friendly the event and its sponsors were. This spectrum mom, Special Olympics physical therapist, and Autism Speaks Ambassador was pleased.
My special highlights from each event:

Babypalooza
Tickle Water (@DrinkTickle)
So many individuals on the spectrum, young and old, are intolerant of carbonation. (My own son, 23, has yet to sample one of these beverages.) While living without soda may be a benefit, it may be at times socially awkward. Tickle Water is a wonderful solution and healthier alternative. Triple-filtered, lightly carbonated, all-natural, preservative-free, sugar-free, and mild;y flavored, Tickle Water is an excellent choice for special families.

Fidget Tech (@FidgetTech)
Yes, fidget toys are all the rage for all the people. I have my personal misgivings, but I do understand their popularity when used appropriately. My Fidget Tech Master Spin Master is more than a distraction/channel for nervous energy/focus tool. It is a hand spinner, phone stand, and phone gripper. Handy.

Play Visions (@PlayVisions)
These play-ful compound products, Floof, Sands Alive, and Play Dirt are a sensory dream no matter where on the sensory spectrum you sit. Made of a variety of consistencies, you can squeeze and mush to your heart’s content.

TouchPoint Solutions (@ilovetouchpoint)
Better living through neuroscience? This product is so in my doctorate student’s wheel house! Developed by a neuropsychologist and a child advocate, this invention (using BLAST- Bilateral Alternating Stimulation Tactile- technology) has so much potential for those with autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, or frankly parenting stressors.
The takeaway from Blogger Bash 2017? Play can be serious business. No matter the age, no matter the challenges, we all learn best when multiple senses are involved for reinforcement. The science freak in me loves the movement towards intelligent products that have multiple purposes and wide appeal. Very special. You deserve the hashtag #WeKnowPlay!
