Happy 30th Anniversary Epcot! Today marks the end of our 30 Days to 30 Years series; 29 bloggers have shared Disney history, personal stories and magical memories along the way. My co-host Beth (Pursuing the Magic and The Magical Blogorail founder) have been fortunate to have so many talented writers weave the tale of Epcot- from poetry to photo journals, we have seen those 30 years through their eyes. To celebrate the BIG birthday, Beth of A Disney Mom’s Thoughts, brings us up to date with Epcot 2012.

30 years ago today Epcot opened. What an
amazing 30 years it has been. We have seen some amazing and not
so amazing things happen at this park. Everyone who has ben to
Epcot has fond memories, I’m certain. If you missed any of the
previous 29 years of Epcot history, make sure you check out those
posts here at “30 Days to 30 Years” hosted by Donna and Beth.
enough to head to Epcot twice this year. My husband and I spent a
week, without kids, at Walt Disney World in February to celebrate our
5th anniversary. Then in July, I was able to take many of my
high school youth from church to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. While
both of these trips were amazing, I’m sill sad I’m missing the
actual 30th
anniversary going on today! If you happen to be reading this AND
you are at Epcot, don’t miss some of these special events
happening:
- Epcot history presentations in World Showplace courtesy of D23:
The Official Disney Fan Club. - 1-2 p.m. – Designing the Future – Past and Present: A panel of
Disney Imagineers remembers 30 years of building tomorrow! - 4:30–6 p.m. – Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar
- 6:30–8 p.m. – Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar
- 3:00 p.m. – The America Gardens Theatre will feature appearances
by Disney leaders and include performances by Mariachi Cobre and
Voices of Liberty. - “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will feature a special 30th
anniversary tag. - Epcot 30th anniversary merchandise will be
available too!
In February, while I was with my husband at Epcot touring the World
Showcase and enjoying our favorites in Future World, we made sure we
rode Test Track one last time before the refurbishment changes started
happening in April. You can find the artists drawings of the “new Test Track” here. When I visited Epcot
in July 2012, Test Track was closed and when I asked the cast members
to share some secrets about the new attraction, they didn’t bite.
I couldn’t get a thing out of them. I guess we’ll just
have to wait and see!

Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure to make room for Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure. The concept
is still the same, but now you will be helping Agent P from Phineas
and Ferb stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz in seven of the World Showcase
countries. While we did not participate in the adventure during
our trip, we did see several families playing. I think this was
a great addition to Epcot! This interactive adventure will
attract both boys and girls and more kids today are more familiar with
Agent P than Kim Possible. Spending time with Agent P is
definitely on my list for next trip!

year of change for our family as well! Last month we welcomed
our latest addition to our family and I’m already planning his first
trip to Walt Disney World! I know it will be a while before he
will truly appreciate the beauty of Epcot, I’m so happy he will
eventually have that opportunity. Epcot has been providing great
memories for our family for the past 30 years and I look forward to
another 30 years of Epcot memories with family and friends.
Thank you, Walt Disney, for the vision and dream of an
Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow that we currently know as
Epcot.
