Place de Rémy Opens at Disneyland Paris~ The Review

July 16, 2014 By D Marie 2 Comments

Disney Co.

He’s baaaack!  Me amis and “foreign correspondent” Patrick, @Pippin1964 is back with the long awaited opening of Place de Rémy in Walt Disney Studios Park, Disneyland Paris!!!  . Bienvenue !

WHAT’S UP IN PARIS
By @pippin1964

After 6 long years of speculation, alterations, and sneak peeks from the top of the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop in neighboring Toy Story Playland, the time has come.  Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy, (the attraction), and Bistrot Chez Rémy, (the restaurant) are open to the public (or fellow rats)!  Place de Rémy is an entire district, complete with a Parisian square and a boutique, (Chez Marianne Souvenirs de Paris), which will open October 20th of this year.

Disney Imagineers created a chic Parisian quarter with a Haussmann frontage building and a fountain modeled after Paris’s “Place des Vosges”; Remy holds a bottle of champagne, which creates the water fountain effect.

With the opening of this blockbuster, Crush’s Coaster has officially been dethroned as most popular attraction in Walt Disney studios.  Members of the genus Rattus should expect long wait times!
On June 28th, I had the privilege to ride Ratatouille: The Adventure as a VIP, which included dedicated entrance to the park, and access to the attraction before the official July 10th opening date.  The inclement weather did not deter us, nor did the delayed start that was attributed to technical difficulties.
While in the queue, you can see advertising from Chef Skinner, (which you may remember as the villian from the movie), and also a plaque honoring legendary Chef Paul Bocuse; the namesake of Epcot’s Monsieur Paul restaurant!

After the first corridor, you are led to Paris rooftops, where you can spot an advertisement for the restaurant Gusteau’s.  In the second corridor you receive your 3-D glasses, and arrive at the boarding area.  From here on, your perspective is not one of a human, but a rat-sized Guest.  Your rat-car, or trackless GPS guided vehicle, awaits and whisks you away in groups of 3 to scenes from Ratatouille; the Parisian skyline, Gusteau’s kitchen, fridge and dining room.  Be prepared to be chased by Chef Skinner!
Lo and behold, the attraction ends where Bistrot Chez Rémy begins.  The storytelling doesn’t miss a beat, as the new table service restaurant is also themed and sized perfectly for you and your furry, hopefully ravenous friends.
From paper to fruition…
Merci beaucoup!  I think I can speak for DIStherapy readers and say we hope you stay teenie tiny long enough to bring us a review of the ratatouille at Bistrot Chez Rémy!!

I remember peering over the construction walls when we were there in 2011 Donna. We NEED to go back and see it through. 😉
