Mr. Toad Time

August 6, 2013 By D Marie 22 Comments

J. Thaddeus Toad,  Esq.
I hereby announce my departure from regions beyond
to take a jaunty journey across the pond,
merrily going to nowhere in particular.

So as not to be forgotten, a tribute to myself for you,
dear friend, for this is not the end.

Exciting adventures await.
Farewell, until we meet again, at a later date!

Why does this Dark Ride pull on our heartstrings?  Perhaps because it was one of our firsts; my family’s first in 1972 (it was one of the Magic Kingdoms opening day attractions on October 1, 1971.  It was one of my boys’ first Walt Disney World attractions in 1994 (no height requirements), and our entire family was sad to see it go in 1998.  It is one of the few remaining “originals” from Disneyland 1955, and we can wait to take a trip to Toad Hall in a few weeks!

We just can’t wait for Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride- the movie!!   (Disney’s adaptation of The Wind in the Willows is slotted to be produced by Tron: Legacy‘s Justin Springer.)  Until then, to Disneyland we go!

I love this ride- but crack up every time. I mean, Mr. Toad goes to H#LL! What kind of Disney is that?! LOL

And I believe that is why Mr. Toad stands out for my boys; it represents the wild side of Disney!

I am so excited about seeing Mr. Toad again! Drew has never experienced this attraction so it's something we're both looking forward to.

Human nature; we had such laughs at Mr. Toad's expense when the attraction was in Walt Disney World, and now we miss it so. It's been elevated to a favorite!!

Well we have The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride's old home- I guess that makes many families very happy!

Great pictures! I was terrified of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride when I was a kid. I think I would probably love it now. I'm going to have to ride it whenever I get to go to Disneyland!
