Epcot Holiday Storytellers

October 1, 2013 By D Marie 23 Comments

It’s time to plan your “Holidays Around the World”.  Not high on our list of Christmas at Walt Disney World must-dos, we stumbled across our first Epcot Holiday Storytellers as we made that famous clockwise turn at World Showcase towards the Mexico Pavilion.  My nephew loudly proclaimed, “it’s The Three Wise Men.” With that, he was picked out of the crowd to play the part of a shepherd in the journey to Posada; the nine day Mexican celebration that begins before Christmas and reenacts the Nativity with Los Tres Reyes Magos.

Epcot Holiday Storytellers

Once we looked at our Park Guide Map (what is this??), we quickly realized that each country in the World Showcase had their own authentic winter holiday presentation.  We were hooked!

Father Christmas at United Kingdom

Père Noël in France

La Befana, the Good Christmas Witch in Italy
Helga in Germany

We unfortunately did not plan to spend so many wonderful hours in Epcot that day, and did not get to listen to all eleven Holiday Storytellers.  Each cultural tale was so captivating, it became the highlight of our Christmas trip to Walt Disney World.  Lest you worry that these tales only hold the attention of adults, refer to my then pre-teen.  My five year old nephew couldn’t stop talking about how special he was to be “part of the show”.  Each is about ten minutes in duration, perfectly entertaining, and is offered about eight times a day during the Holiday season.

We still have to catch up on the remaining six Holiday Storytellers. You can be sure we will have a plan and plenty of time to spend at this park.  You MUST experience “Holidays Around the World”, it is absolutely a Walt Disney World Christmas Ho-Ho-Ho!

We LOVE the storytellers in Epcot but we also didn't get to hear all of them. But we are going back in December and I plan on spending a lot of time in the World Showcase. 🙂

Oh, I'm green- it's been years and we haven't gotten back to Walt Disney World around the Holidays. I'd love to see your photos of the ones we missed Melissa!

I'm excited for you! Epcot has so much to offer at Christmastime; more so than any other park, in my opinion. Plan a full day there- at least!

Our one and only trip to WDW for the holidays was impacted by the blizzard that year. We missed our Epcot day and when we could go back, the holiday festivities were over. Hopefully we'll get to go back again and we will definitely check out the Storytellers.

I'm sad Lisa! Here's hoping you get back the Walt Disney World during the holidays (and do Epcot first)!!

You could absolutely make a day of it Jodi; between the Holiday Storytellers and the Candlelight Processional, no attractions are needed!!

My husband doesn't care for Epcot, so we have never spent the time to listen to the storytellers. Next time I'm at Epcot at Christmas I'm going to insist on it.

Yes! You must convince him. Epcot at Christmas is an entirely different experience. (Good luck!)

I do love the storytellers at Epcot during Christmas. I only heard 2 on our last trip, so I do want to experience all of them one day!

If (when) we return for Christmas, I will insist spending a day at Epcot that revolves around the Holiday Storytellers. Like you, I MUST see them all one day!

Good point Mary. It is getting more and more difficult to find the holiday of Christmas celebrated fully. Disney does diversity AND Christmas so well. Applause!!!

We all loved the storytellers! It wasn't part of our touring plan but after the first one we made a point of seeing as many as we could. I can't wait to see more of them.
