Tic-toc-tic-toc, the clock moves ahead to the year 2010 at Disneyland Paris. Beth, Manda and I welcome Jodi, veteran blogger and homeschooling maven at Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, who ushers in a new year, a new land, and provides a lesson along the way. The teacher is in!!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Toy Story movies are some of my favorite Disney productions of all time! The first one released when my oldest child was an infant. He later wore out the VHS version, watching it over and over and over without tiring of its storyline. I never tired of it either. It’s just so endearing! Anyone who’s ever owned a special toy can totally relate to the special bond between Andy and his toy friends.
In 2010, Disneyland Resort Paris celebrated the third Toy Story installment with the opening of Toy Story Playland at Walt Disney Studios Park. Oh, it’s not just one ride or simple attraction either. No, it is Toy Story! It is play time in Andy’s backyard, and once you enter this Land, you become one of Andy’s cherished companions. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a toy, here’s your chance to find out.
Scattered about the Land are familiar “faces” from the films. You see stacked alphabet blocks, Tinker Toys and of course, the yellow ball with the blue stripe and big red star. You also greet Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang in some form or fashion. Why, Slinky Dog is even a ride!
The Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin is one of three attractions in Toy Story Playland. Pups of all ages yip with delight as Slinky spins to catch his own tail. Go ahead and take a spin. It’s “barking mad fun!”
Sarge and his troops are looking for new recruits.Head on over to the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop for your first assignment as an enlistee. Hold on tight when Sarge yells, “Go!”
RC Racer is a high speed thrill ride designed as a U-shaped Hot Wheels track. Guests board RC ride vehicles and are launched up the 27-meter ramp for high-octane excitement. Buckle your seatbelt and zoom full speed ahead.
When Guests enter Toy Story Playland, they no longer need to imagine being shrunk to the size of a toy. They virtually become a toy! The props and attractions, and even the foliage, are oversized to grant Guests that magical illusion of walking right into the movie itself.
Take time to play today. Enjoy the special bond you share with your children. Go to a nearby park and imagine you have shrunk back to their size. Swing on the swings. Slide down the slides. Hide. Seek. Tag, you’re it!

Thanks, Manda! And thank you, Donna & Beth for allowing me to celebrate DLRP with you!!! I've really enjoyed the 20 Days to 20 Years series!
Jodi,
Sincere thanks for lending us your talents! I can see why Toy Story Playland is such a hit- with young and grown-up children alike. (And as you say, with the scale of the attractions and decoration, it is easy to feel small again. :D) 2010 is a hit!!
