Walt Disney Walks Here

December 5, 2012 By D Marie 20 Comments

He would have been 111 today.  We “met” in 1964 at the New York World’s Fair.  You’ve no doubt read about my “Walt” roots, as I lovingly call them; from “it’s a small world”, to Disney’s Wonderful World of Color every Sunday night, to the hot-off-the-presses LOOK and LIFE magazines, and eventually to Walt Disney World in 1972, my family coveted all things Walt Disney.  Though we always had millions in company, somehow our clan always felt that Walt belonged to us.  And no wonder.  He was a universal father- uncle- grandfather figure to those millions of Americans who hung on his every move and word.  Though we “followed” Walt from New York to Orlando, we have never felt closer to the man than we do when we visit Anaheim.  And nowhere in the world is homage to the man more evident…

Don’t you agree?  Walt walks here.  Still.

Our family was just talking about Walt today, as I forgot to share with the kids that his birthday was yesterday. He was certainly an unforgettable, special man!
