Recent events- Hurricane Sandy and the Sandy Hook School shootings- are proof that Americans need to care more deeply for one another. Though I normally keep politics out of my blog, and I am an avowed compassionate Conservative, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s concept that It Takes a Village to raise our children rings with urgency today. “Am I my brother’s keeper?’ You bet. How else will we, members of our village, look ourselves in the mirror?
Enter Operation United Hearts; a group of bloggers helping a very special military family from Fort Lee, Virginia this Christmas… On November 19th of this year, a tragic fire broke out, taking the lives of a father and his two year old daughter, and the home and worldly belongings of another family; a single mom and soldier with 6 year old twins and a 3 year old. (Read more here about the Fort Lee community and how they have aided this displaced military family.)

I think this is beyond wonderful what that you're helping to spread the word about this! Friday was the shooting, over the weekend we got word that friends miscarried their twins and just yesterday a good friend's mother passed away. It truly takes a village full of love and support to get through each and every day!
Oh boy Lynn, you said it. So sorry for your losses-it seems to hurt so much more at this normally happy time of year. Sending prayers your way.
