15 Days to 15 Years- 2002

April 11, 2013 By D Marie 6 Comments

Today we have our very own British Diva in the “digs”!  Jane from Tips from the Disney Diva goes back in time to Disney’s Animal Kingdom 2002.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom – 2002

By Jane Glanville-Duckworth aka British Diva at Tips from the Disney Diva.
My family always looks forward to a few days at Animal Kingdom during our usual fortnights holiday (2 week vacation) to Walt Disney World.  Rightly, or wrongly we always refer to it as “Na-ta-Zo” – jokingly meaning ‘Not a Zoo’ because of course as we all know; it’s way more than just a zoo!

New from Disney’s imagineers in 2002 came both TriceraTop Spin & Primeval Whirl.

2002 was a whirling twirling year for DinoLand U.S.A. as those clever Imagineers revealed for our continued enjoyment two family friendly rides to this brightly coloured carnivalesque spot- TriceraTop Spin and Primeval Whirl; both are designed to thrill all age groups from the Triassic to the Cretaceous!

Primeval Whirl is a whirling, wheeling, waltzer-esque roller-coaster style ride.  Keen eyes may even spot a homage to the Haunted Mansion’s infamous ‘three hitchhiking ghosts’ during the ride!

If you adore flying up and down, round and around just like on the beloved Dumbo ride at the Magic Kingdom, then you’re going to equally love TriceraTop Spin.

Both rides are situated within Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama area, which is accessible via the “OldenGate Bridge” from Discovery Island.  Here you can easily spot the massive Concretasurus which always makes for a good keepsake snapshot.  I always recommend a visit with Sue…she is a replica of the largest complete Tyrannosaurus Rex to be discovered to date and so named after the American paleontologist Sue Hendrickson, who unearthed this massive skeleton in South Dakota in 1990.
