J. Thaddeus Toad, Esq.
I hereby announce my departure from regions beyond
to take a jaunty journey across the pond,
merrily going to nowhere in particular.
So as not to be forgotten, a tribute to myself for you,
dear friend, for this is not the end.
Exciting adventures await.
Farewell, until we meet again, at a later date!
Why does this Dark Ride pull on our heartstrings? Perhaps because it was one of our firsts; my family’s first in 1972 (it was one of the Magic Kingdoms opening day attractions on October 1, 1971. It was one of my boys’ first Walt Disney World attractions in 1994 (no height requirements), and our entire family was sad to see it go in 1998. It is one of the few remaining “originals” from Disneyland 1955, and we can wait to take a trip to Toad Hall in a few weeks!
We just can’t wait for Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride- the movie!! (Disney’s adaptation of The Wind in the Willows is slotted to be produced by Tron: Legacy‘s Justin Springer.) Until then, to Disneyland we go!
I adore Mr. Toad's Wild Ride! So happy it's in my Home! Just rode it last week!
We love your home base Gayle!
I love this ride- but crack up every time. I mean, Mr. Toad goes to H#LL! What kind of Disney is that?! LOL
And I believe that is why Mr. Toad stands out for my boys; it represents the wild side of Disney!
I am so excited about seeing Mr. Toad again! Drew has never experienced this attraction so it's something we're both looking forward to.
No smooching in the dark now!! 😉
I have never ridden Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. It's definitely on my Disney bucket list. 🙂
It's so kitschy- you must!! (And I'm a sucker for any legacy attraction!)
Love Mr. Toad, so miss it at WDW, we are off to Disneyland in Sept and it's high on our list of must do. Thanks for the memories.
Human nature; we had such laughs at Mr. Toad's expense when the attraction was in Walt Disney World, and now we miss it so. It's been elevated to a favorite!!
I miss Mr Toad's in WDW:( My kids first dark ride and they loved it! What fun it will be for you to ride it in DL!!
Yup- that what it did to us too! Gotta love our sentimental favorites…
LOVE THIS! Such a treat to see some old school Disney rides. I wish they had this at WDW…but lucky we go to Disneyland too!
Well we have The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride's old home- I guess that makes many families very happy!
What a fun post! Haven't been able to hop for a couple weeks, so I'm just seeing the new look on your blog! Love it! So bright and cheery!
Thank you- it was about time for a rehab!! 😀
This is one of our favorite areas in Disneyland. Mr. Toad is cool!
Thanks Mary- we can't wait to get back!!
Wow such a lovely collection of photos Didi. Someday I will ride this!
By the way I love the new look of your blog!
Suz
Thanks Suz- I just had to tidy up!!
Great pictures! I was terrified of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride when I was a kid. I think I would probably love it now. I'm going to have to ride it whenever I get to go to Disneyland!
I will agree that it doesn't have the happiest of endings… 😀
