Narcoossee’s~ Romance On Seven Seas Lagoon

February 10, 2014 By D Marie 28 Comments

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Green.  Enjoy the ride as we share the restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort we think are the most romantic.

A glass of wine, Wishes, and thou…
Popping the question?  Honeymooners?  First night out without the children?  Anniversary?  Valentine’s Day??  No matter the occasion for your romantic tête-à-tête, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s Narcoossee’s is a culinary experience that earns not only its Fine/Signature Dining title but lovey dovey status as well!.

For full-on romance, begin your evening with a cruise on a Gold Flag motor launch; nothing will set an  amorous mood better than moonlight skipping across Seven Seas Lagoon as you journey from the Magic Kingdom to this deluxe Disney property.  The octagonal restaurant, with its gabled roof and waterfront vistas is more nautical in feeling than the rest of this Victorian resort.  With planked flooring, vaulted ceilings and wooden shutters, there exists here an understated elegance that is both comfortable and special.  Most every seat has a view of Cinderella Castle, though you can request a window table upon check in.  Narcoossee’s is only open for dinner, and though they do offer a Kid’s Meals (my boys always looked forward to the Mickey Pasta that is still a staple here), this post is all about adult fun.  Chef Joe Wilson creates his ever-changing, grown-up pleasing, seafood-based menu from both Florida fresh-caught and global waters alike.

Grilled Florida Wild Caught Black Grouper

Carnivores take heart; my husband’s all-time favorite is the Butter-poached Maine Lobster Tail with Grilled Filet Mignon.  (At $71, this is a certified special occasion dish, but true romantics never talk price!)  Vegetarian dishes showcase seasonal produce.  As always, Guests with dietary concerns will alert their server and speak directly to the chef.  You can inspect the remainder of the menu HERE.  As of 2013, wind and beer pairings are available, and sure are a nice touch.  A different wine for each course?  Why yes, love.

This is their birthday creation, but be assured that they have anniversary and honeymoon variations as well.

Desserts are straight from Master Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek’s bakery; and are works of art all.  The ingredients and offerings change seasonally, but we always seem to stumble upon a variation of Crème Brûlée…  As memorable as these sweets are, they are not the evening’s deal sealer.  No doubt you’ve researched showtimes and selected your dining reservation accordingly, because the real star of any evening at Narcoossee’s is Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.  While you can certainly view the displays from your table, it is SO much more romantic to grab a railing outside on the covered waterfront veranda and hold hands to “When You Wish Upon a Star”.

And don’t forget to stay for a viewing of the Electric Water Pageant- you can almost reach out and touch it.  This brand of magic needs to be sealed with a kiss!

Notes:

  • Dress Code at this restaurant is business casual, (no tank tops, swimsuits, hats or cut-offs), but this is your love story, and I’m sure you will be dressed to impress.  (Your mate, that is.)
  • Dining Reservations are strongly suggested.  (Though as prices here continue to climb, I find these reservations are far easier to obtain than years ago.)
  • All Walt Disney World Resort dining reservations require a $10 per person deposit on a credit card.  (Note there is a 24 hour cancellation policy.)
  • Narcoossee’s accepts Tables in Wonderland.
  • This dining location requires 2 credits on the Disney Dining Plan.
Location, mood, extras, fine dining AND vino?  That’s amore!!

That sounds amazing! I've always shied away from Narcoossees because of the seafood. But now knowing that they have a vegetarian option, it's definitely something to consider.

I've never even considered Narcoossee's because we're always at Disney with our kids. But, I keep saying that one of these days Brian and I will make it down there on our own – and, when we do, I'm getting the Deluxe Dining Plan so we can try some of these Signature Dining Experiences! I wouldn't have considered this one because I'm allergic to seafood; but, looking over the menu, I see some delicious-sounding options that I could enjoy! Thanks for sharing!

You should Heidi- my husband has a steak restaurant, so unfortunately we are generally a family of carnivores. But- they love the steak options at Narcoossee's!!

We ate at Narcoossee's for our anniversary a few years back, and it was lovely. They even had a printed menu for us that congratulated us on the occasion, and champagne waiting at our table. It is truly a romantic restaurant!

You are right! We had a personalized menu when we celebrated my son's 18th birthday there several years back, but not this past trip… Hmmmm Boy, the champagne was a very nice touch!!

We have yet to go because my husband is not a seafood fan. But he may be swayed by that filet!

Mary, as I mention above, there are always 4 or 5 beef/lamb options here, and my husband says it is the best steak on property!

I absolutely love this restaurant. We used to eat here every trip when I was a kid. We used to get all dressed up and would sit outside to see the water pageant and the fireworks. One tip I always give people is to eat here during a special event at the Magic Kingdom. For example, I got to see Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party fireworks from Narcoosee's without being in the park. Great review.

Oh Donna, what a great post! Yummy! While I won't be eating there anytime soon — simply because I don't think it is up Sophie's alley, I already have plans to attend the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World with Cindy (Sophie will be in college!) and I think this would make for a wonderful post 21st wedding anniversary celebration!
