Nestled into the corner behind Ariel’s Grotto, this recently expanded alfresco lounge is now less the “hideaway” it once was, but the views, cocktails, and nibbles make this spot a real splash. Located on Paradise Pier, the views from the Cove Bar are the perfect compliment to your beverage of choice. (And the squeals from California Screamin’ are equally entertaining.) Toast!
The Cove Bar at Disney California Adventure
The seaside amusement park atmosphere is lighthearted and fun; though I enjoy sitting at the bar, the tables on the rail are the place to be.
This “crow’s nest” on Paradise Bay serves up wine, sangria, beer, hard root beer, tequila, tequila flights, and the beverage menu found across Disney Parks and Resorts; mixology utilizing organic spirits, fresh fruit juices, and no-sugar-added purees. (Including my son’s favorite, the Magical Star Cocktail. I’d love to show you a photo, but I’m never quite fast enough… Slurp!)
Disney California Adventure Adult Beverages
Mama has been known to hit the Cove Bar post runDisney contests for an obligatory early Mimosa.
Ask for the “secret” drink menu- Mickey’s Fun Wheel is not just delicious but so PRETTY. Alcohol and non-alcoholic specialties are not the only offerings at this seaside spot. The Cove Bar is an ideal spot for a light lunch on the water. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip is a standard appetizer-type option, but the CB Lobster Nachos, Trio of Tri-tip Sliders, or Specialty Artisan Pizza (it changes seasonally) are more of a meal.
This is the pre-renovation menu; gone are the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Buffalo Wings. They have been replaced by Fajita Quesadilla Rolls and Chorizo Fundito. Chorizo!!! |
Earlier this year, the Cove Bar doubled its seating capacity when its renovation took over the space where the character meet and greet gazebo once stood. Now that its visibility has been significantly enhanced, get ready for an equally significant wait time. Reservations are not (yet) accepted at this oasis of adult beverage, and the line queues up about a half-hour before opening (usually 11:00 am daily.) This lounge normally closes before World of Color showings, and though the new space is covered, it is not open during inclement weather.

Next time you visit Disneyland Resort, look for me in the oasis upstairs from Ariel’s Grotto.

Um, how did I miss this spot on my last trip?! This looks awesome, and even more awesome that it's in the actual park! I can do a drink and World of Disney any day!

It really is (was) THAT hidden Rosanne. I understand that since the Cove Bar re-opened, the lines have been crazy. On your next trip, I guarantee it will be worth the wait!

Hoping to get to DL later this year. Will put this one on my list to try.

You absolutely should- it's a great little getaway from the bustle of the parks. (Especially in the summer crowds!)

I totally missed this place when I was at California Adventure. It looks so relaxing and I love that it also has a DVC discount. Adding it to my to-do list for next trip.

It's one of those Disney hidden treasures we're always looking for Mary!

I fell in love with Cove Bar on my trip to Disneyland last summer. It's such an underrated gem, and so good for an hour or so break in the middle of a 12 hour Disney day.

I'm happy you agree- I can't wait to see the expansion for myself!!

Oh my goodness! We have only been to Disneyland a few times, and there is so much we have yet to discover. I was intrigued though and found a picture of the Mickey's Fun Wheel drink… you weren't kidding! So beautiful! This will be a must-do on our next trip out West. 🙂
