*And you thought the month of May owned all things Star Wars. Watch out world- this June- and National Running Day- brings Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend presented by Sierra Nevada Corporation mania, with this inaugural event’s early registration, (for Annual Passholders and DVC members), beginning today at Noon EST! Be prepared for your social media platforms to be bombarded with this… #LetTheWookieeWin.*
You’ve seen the photos. Folks accomplishing serious feats of athleticism. 13.1 miles, 26.2 miles, 48.6 grueling miles, all in a Goofy hat, an Ariel tutu, (I refer to the men), or Dopey ears. Sometimes with all of the before mentioned. It is a marvel that is exclusively runDisney’s. It is an image that is completely seared into my memory: My first-ever 5K two and a half years ago, run almost completely behind a gentleman with his young daughter balanced on his shoulders; both in a full-out Minnie Mouse costume. I will never forget the moment it bit me. That runDisney bug. The “ah ha” juncture. The Disney Side that I grew up on and loved for 40 years had not gone stale, not remained static. It had gone to infinity. And beyond. I NEED TO DO THIS AGAIN. And to fully embrace the magical experience, I need to dress the part. I am not the most creative or crafty soul, so I turn to Pinterest for that spark of imagination. When the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend was announced last week, I went right to work. You see, this time I need double the inspiration. I’m a big girl now- I’ll be completing my very first runDisney challenge! I know, so many others seem to achieve running greatness on a regular basis. I need to manage cardiac issues, but if I train seriously I think I can take my runDisney path to the next galaxy. All of this is a long-winded way of saying that I need two costumes for next January!!
So what will it be? C-3PO? Jar Jar Binks? I haven’t decided! But I have intergalactic backup. I’ve been partnering with the droids and computers and pinning silly; Sparkle Athletic, Sparkle Skirts, runDisney, Amazon, The Disney Store. Please- grab your Wookieepedia and come join the Pinterest fun HERE. (And send me any resource I’ve missed!)

My stars were all in alignment, because I recently won the Custom Tutu Giveaway From Dancing to Running, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with Lesley of Greater Fitness. I saw a sample of her work months ago, and fell in love!

Light Side, Dark Side, just be sure to bring your Disney Side; Force included.
Love to see all the fun costumes for the run events, adding a hint of Star Wars would be great. Can't wait to hear about it.
The Star Wars element is energizing the runDisney brand!
I am so looking forward to seeing your SW costume! What fun!!
And that "fun" element is what keeps me running. 😉
I cannot wait to see your costume!! I know it will be fabulous, just like you!! I am always saying this but you are such an inspriation to me!
No one supports our Disney "family" more than you Donna. <3
You are so amazing and I can't wait to see your costume!!! 🙂

I'll see you there Mallory!
Ackk a new themed run?!! I love it ( not that I can run, LOL) I just can't image dressing as a Storm Trooper and running. Might be a little stuffy, LOL. I can't wait to see your pick Didi!!
Ha! At my age I always run HOT, so I usually choose the minimalist costume theming. BUT, I have seen some full-out furry costumes on the runDisney courses!!
I can't wait to see what you choose!!!
Me too Cindy. 😉 !!
I simply can not wait to see the costumes for the Star Wars run. They are going to be hysterical
I've already seen so many Wookiees on past runs- you know folks will "one up" this long awaited race!
Looking forward to see what you will wear. I'm so excited for this new set of races 😉
Between the Avengers Super Heroes Half and the Rebel Challenge, I may give my tiara a rest for a bit! ; )
That will be one fun run! Anxiously awaiting your big reveal! Good luck with your training!
Thanks Lisa- I better get a jump start on this challenge. Time to find my Force!
I can't wait to see what costume you choose! The RunDisney events always look like so much fun!
Oh my goodness, they really are addictive Sam; thank goodness running is a healthy habit!!
What a cute idea! I can't wait to see what you wear. Is it hard running in the tutus? Seems like it'd bother me!
Beth, I have to admit that I always run with my compression tights, so I never have had to worry about the tulle + bare skin combo. So far, it works for me!!
