In April, Great Wolf Lodge is howling for good. This popular resort destination, with 17 properties across America and Canada, is showing their full-pack support of those living with an autism spectrum disorder. (Two more resorts are set to open by 2020!) The chain of indoor water parks has recently been named one of the “Top 22 Best Family Vacations” by O the Oprah Magazine. And they are proving why. Their commitment to all families is most evident during Autism Awareness Month.
If you are a reader of this blog, you know the impact that autism has had on my own “pups.” Perhaps you understand why I am so committed to the organization Autism Speaks, and am an Autism Speaks Volunteer Advocacy Ambassador. Has this spectrum disorder touched your wolf pack? If so, we have found two brilliant and easy ways to turn April blue. YOU can directly impact services and quality of life issues for the autism community.
Great Wolf Lodge Supports Autism Awareness Month
Throughout April, the resort will offer a blue version of the brand’s signature wolf ears to guests for a minimum $5 donation to Autism Speaks. A limited edition collection of 10,000 blue wolf ears will be available for purchase at all of the company’s U.S.-based resorts.
All proceeds from the Blue Wolf Ears campaign go directly to Autism Speaks. The goal is to raise $50,000 to support the mission of enhancing lives across the spectrum at every stage of life. Last year, the non-profit aided more than 1 million people through their efforts. **Eighty-five cents of every Autism Speaks dollar funds acceptance initiatives, groundbreaking autism research, expands early childhood screening and interventions, and provides resources to adulthood transitions programs.
In what is just the kick-off of an anticipated long-termed partnership, Autism Speaks will guide Great Wolf Lodge in their approach and offerings for families living with autism. You can get behind this effort without leaving your home! Simply tweet, post, or share the hashtag #GreatWolfCares with a message about autism. In turn, Great Wolf Lodge will make a $5 donation to Autism Speaks (up to $20,000). Together, we can earn every penny of this.
