Donald and Daisy- A Disney Duck Dynasty

January 29, 2014 By D Marie 38 Comments

Why is there a lack of love shown to this duck duo?  Despite the fact that Donald Duck is a member of the “Fab 5”; despite the long and happy romance that Donald and Daisy have enjoyed, there seems to be a lack of attention focused on this couple.  Daisy and Donald Fauntleroy Duck had their first date 74 years ago in the Disney film short, Mr. Duck Steps Out, and though never married, have had a lively courtship ever since.  Of course, they never carry the spotlight that their good pals Mickey and Minnie do, but after nearly 75 years I’d call this a Disney Duck Dynasty!

In my first 26 years visiting Disney Parks, I never once saw Donald and Daisy together.  It was not until the soft opening of Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 1998 that we stumbled upon the couple in Camp Mickey-Minnie.  Since then, they are a bit more visible.  They often attend special events in the parks, and now have a new Character Meet and Greet in Pete’s Silly Sideshow.

Lately, I’ve run into a couple of pseudo ducks paying homage to the famous couple.

It took 2 miles, but I finally caught up with this runDisney duo during the Walt Disney World 10K…

Finally, some respect!  Aw, phooey!!  Check out my Pinterest board for all things Donald and Daisy; more costumes, baby shower ideas, party goods, home goods, etc…

I love it Donna! What a great couple you've written about. Daisy Duck is my wife's absolute favorite character, she loves that Sassy Duck! Thanks for writing about them!

You already know that I love this post for all kinds of reasons – the most is that adorable picture at the very top. You are just too cute! We had a fun experience with Daisy a few years ago. We had made our own autograph books and Ian's had a picture of him with Donald from a previous trip. Daisy found it and signed on that page, putting a big heart around Donald's image. It was one of those special character encounters that we will always remember.

I know they can come across as a bit harsh in some of their cartoons, but they sure were cute in person Donna!

What a great post! They are so under appreciated! It's my husband's goal to meet "classic" Donald – we're hoping we can do so in Disneyland in March!

Yes- it's a bit of a rarity. Now that you, Donald and Daisy are neighbors, you'll have to tell me if there any sightings!!

On our first Disney trip, my little girl (2 at the time), refused to hug Donald because she "didn't want to make Daisy mad." LOL! Even at 2, she knew he was taken!

Aaaw that runDisney couple is me and my husband. We also met you at BOG restaurant. I'm so happy to have found your blog. I recently changed phones and the guy didn't transfer my pics over. They wiped the phone so I lost all my race photos. πŸ™ I'm so happy to have a couple more. Thanks Didi.

Donald is my favorite. I try to get a photo with him at Chef Mickey's each year. As a kid I was mad at Mickey when he assumed he'd have the first page in my autograph book, as if he deserved the first page πŸ™‚ Donald and Daisy definitely have a Duck Dynasty!
