Welcome back to 30 Days to 30 Years! Take a long look backward, as we count down to Epcot’s 30th Anniversary. Each day the series will bring you a new blogger to share their most precious Disney moments. Today, we say hello to Sherry from Music 2 My Ears and the year 2003. She’s an amazing poet (and I bet she doesn’t even know it)!
2003: Epcot Was the Place to Be!
Traveling to Epcot in 2003
With a 2 year old was quite easy
(That is, if you have the 3 S’s: stroller, snacks, and stamina)
And you don’t forget your camera!

First stop: she called the “big ball in the sky”
Spaceship Earth for the grownups, you and I
After that, we had to find Figment
The cute little dragon of purple pigment.

She absolutely loved her Journey into Imagination
And flying Figment was an instant sensation
The “One Little Spark” song stayed in our heads all day
But thankfully the skunk smell from the attraction went away 🙂

A word of advice: when your kiddo desires a delicious Mickey bar
Don’t let your wallet go too far
Just be prepared: you might have to buy two
Because the first one might end up on the ground in front of you!

Our world traveler daughter took in the countries in stride
Although her favorite was Mexico and the El Rio del Tiempo ride
I think it reminded her of It’s A Small World, so she wanted to sing along
But she kept commenting that the music was “all wrong”.
You would think that a laser lightshow filling the sky
Would be pleasing to a toddler’s eye
You’d be wrong though-as we quickly learned
The fireworks were far too loud and made her ears “burned”
But I’m proud to say we experienced the World Showcase and Future World
All the magic of Disney unfurled
And the lesson: a child is never too young to experience the sounds and sights
Of Epcot, whether it be morning or night!
It has been an absolute pleasure to participate in 30 Days to 30 Years, and I can’t wait to be at Epcot on October 1st! Look for my blog, Music 2 My Ears, my Facebook page, and follow me on Twitter @sherryboswell. My sweet little 2 year old is now 11 years old and in the 6th grade. She still adores Disney and has outgrown her fireworks aversion!
Coming up tomorrow, very appropriately, is Werner of Yesterland blog…
