With dry cloths and coiffed hair, I’ve written several checks for ALS; I am not adverse to ice water, but I believe folks should participate in philanthropy freely, without undue pressure, and because they have a leaning towards a particular charity. I have treated several patients with ALS; it is a dreadful disease, and I gave freely to that cause, though bone dry.
Give Kids The World Village is different. When Disney Gals and The Adult Side of Disney asked me to participate in the Disney Writers United Ice Bucket Challenge, I just could not say no. I have spent a lifetime in the Disney Parks, and three years writing about that Disney Side. I know what visiting those parks has meant to my parents, me and my siblings, my children, and my step grandchildren . The magic that Give Kids The World Village delivers trumps all; providing a spark of fantasy, a lightened heart and dreams that soar and last an all-too-often truncated lifetime.
SO, I happily get dumped on before I make my donation, and I pledge to make a donation for every long run I do before the inaugural Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon. For super heroes are exactly what these families are, and their enemy is a fierce one. If each Incredible runDisney fan donated just $5 to this cause, we could win the happiness battle and ensure magic for all. Here. We. Gooooo!
